Job summary

SSM Health in Illinois/Missouri seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Poison Control Call Center on the Evening Shift. You will staff a telephone line, assess histories, and coordinate with health care professionals to deliver safe, effective patient care.

Requires RN license in applicable states and at least 3 years of nursing experience in medical/surgical, pediatric, or maternal/child health. BSN is preferred; strong communication and emergency response skills are essential.

Qualifications

• RN licensure required
• Three years RN experience in medical/surgical, pediatric or maternal/child health
• BSN preferred and ability to handle telephone-based poison inquiries

Responsibilities

• Staffs a telephone service line and collaborates with staff, providers and callers
• Obtains and documents a complete patient history with calm, reassuring communication
• Uses computer for live data collection, documentation and communication with caller
• Guides treatment advice for poison exposures as needed
• Maintains alertness and safe operation in a call-center environment
• Performs other duties as assigned
