Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring a Phlebotomy Technician to collect blood specimens and perform EKG and point-of-care testing for inpatients and outpatients. You will review orders and ensure tests meet medical necessity, and prepare specimens for transport and processing.

The role requires a high school diploma or phlebotomy training, BLS certification within 3 months, and may require travel to other locations. Evening shifts, 32 hours per week, with every-other-holiday schedule.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required or equivalent experience.
• Formal phlebotomy training or documented phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy on patients.
• Conduct EKG, pulse oximetry and point-of-care testing as required.
• Prepare specimens (centrifugation, pour-off, labeling) and ensure proper handling.
