Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Phlebotomist for float coverage in Worcester, MA. The role requires performing venipuncture and capillary collections, EKGs, and point-of-care testing for inpatients and outpatients.

The candidate must complete a phlebotomy program and obtain BLS within 3 months, joining a team with a commitment to respectful patient care. The position offers evenings, weekends, and holidays on a rotating schedule, with a 40-hour workweek and potential travel to other campuses

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; completion of recognized phlebotomy program or relevant experience.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of employment; annual competencies maintained.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary collection with appropriate equipment.
• Review physician orders and ensure tests meet Medical Necessity guidelines.
• Perform EKG, pulse oximetry and point-of-care testing as required; maintain quality control of instruments.
• Prepare specimens, labeling, centrifugation, and registration in appropriate systems.
