Rhode Island Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to obtain blood and other specimens under supervision. You will transport samples, perform basic clerical duties, and enter data into the department system while ensuring proper patient preparation and safety protocols.

Responsibilities include scheduling punctures, labeling and preparing samples, maintaining records, and communicating with nursing staff. Evening shifts are typical, with on-site work at Providence, RI.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certificate through NACA or completion of a phlebotomy program with internship (100 venipunctures).
• In lieu of internship, 6 months phlebotomy experience may be considered.
• In lieu of certification, 5+ years direct phlebotomy experience may be considered.
• Ability to perform venipuncture and capillary puncture on adults, children and infants.

Responsabilidades

• Schedules venipunctures or capillary punctures by priority and test type.
• Uses labels and Pathology Handbook to ensure correct collection procedures.
• Verifies patient identity and prep per procedures.
• Collects blood samples and other specimens as needed.
• Performs coagulation tests such as bleeding times.
• Labels, wraps, and prepares samples for transport and documentation.
• Maintains records of sample procurement and data entry in the department system.
• Interviews patient to obtain insurance, biographical and medical information for registration.
• Provides patient with forms and prep instructions for tests.
