UMass Memorial Health is hiring a Patient Care Technician I for an on-site role in Leominster, MA. The position requires assisting with daily living activities, vital signs, and EKG/POC testing under licensed clinicians.

You will support high‑risk patients with safety and compassionate care while maintaining clear communication with the nursing team. The role emphasizes teamwork, clinical terminology, and basic computer skills, with a focus on de‑escalation and safety in a busy hospital unit.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support.
• Medical Terminology.
• Computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to gather information, build relationships and provide excellent patient service.
• Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.

Aufgaben

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations and changes.
• Provide constant observation of high‑risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse.
• Maintain a safe environment and assist in de‑escalation per training.
• Assist patients with daily living activities such as hygiene, ambulation, meals and nourishment.
• Assist in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients with proper body mechanics.
• Maintain patient safety through safety checks and fall prevention strategies; follow restraint policies when needed.
• Take and record vital signs and measure patient height/weight.
• Perform EKGs, Point of Care tests and bladder scanning; collect and label specimens for transport to lab.
• Assist with treatments and procedures as directed by RN or LIP.
