Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) for the 6400 Psychiatric Unit. This role supports patient-centered care in the evenings, with a schedule from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, including every other weekend and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• BLS Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross on hire or within the new hire period.
• Prior job or educational experience providing basic computer knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare units, patient rooms and patient beds for receiving patient admission, returning surgical patients, transfer or emergencies.
• Provide and document assigned care, such as bathing, bed linen changes, dressing/undressing, and back rubs.
• Take and document vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, weight and height.
• Perform treatment procedures and prepare/assist with medical equipment as directed.
• Assist with meals and hydration, and support patient comfort per physician orders.
• Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care and safe ambulation.
• Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer and discharge.
• Perform hourly safety rounds and respond to patient call lights promptly.
• Document patient care in the electronic medical record.
• Complete ongoing competency requirements and mandatory training.
