Job summary

UnityPoint Health is hiring a Patient Care Technician to deliver hands-on patient care under licensed supervision in the General Rehab/6W unit. Evening shifts 3 pm to 11 pm with no specific weekend commitment, focusing on mobility, nutrition, hydration, and safety during patient transitions.

Qualifications

• Maintain current BLS certification.
• Complete a basic EMR computer course through in-hospital training.
• Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions.
• Age Specific Requirements: Patients served ages 8-18 and Adults.

Responsibilities

• Partners with the RN and healthcare team to achieve patient care outcomes.
• Obtains records and enters data into the EMR with competency validation.
• Performs tasks directed by the RN and team following validation.
• Assist with Unit Secretary responsibilities per department expectations.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Transport non-controlled medications between pharmacy and unit as needed.
• Demonstrates awareness of patient and personal safety.
• Adheres to the Comfort/C.A.R.E. practice model in daily care.
