Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support the Surgical - 3 SSU team. The role involves assisting with patient care under RN supervision, documenting observations in the EMR, and performing tasks to ensure smooth unit operations.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, data entry, and collaboration with the nursing staff to meet care plans. Shift rotation includes days with 36 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Maintain current BLS certification.
• Fluent English communication, written and spoken.
• Basic computer skills to operate EMR

Responsibilities

• Partner with RN and healthcare team to achieve patient care outcomes.
• Enter and verify patient data in EMR per scope of practice.
• Perform tasks directed by RN with competency validation.
• Assist with Unit Secretary tasks as needed and appropriate.
• Help patients with activities of daily living.
• Transport non-controlled medications between pharmacy and patient care areas.
• Demonstrate awareness of patient and personal safety.
• Incorporate St. Luke's Comfort/C.A.R.E. model in daily care.
