Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is looking for a dedicated Certified Nurse Aide to provide routine patient care in the evenings with rotating weekends and holidays. The role supports nursing staff by assisting with daily patient activities, communication, and basic clinical tasks.

The position requires CNA certification (or licensing) and a HS diploma/GED. Eligible for a $750 sign-on bonus; 76 hours every two weeks (2-10:30pm) and a strong team-based environment with opportunities to grow.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe and direct patient care: ambulating, bathing, positioning, feeding and monitoring patient needs.
• Greets visitors, answers inquiries, assists, relays messages and handles gifts, flowers and mail for patients.
• Ambulates patients and assists in and out of wheelchairs; measures intake and outputs; collects specimens as needed.
• Answers telephone, operates paging system, and assists during emergencies.
• Prepares requisitions for diagnostic/therapeutic services and coordinates appointments; assists with discharge planning.
• Requests services such as Chaplain, social services, and pastoral care.
• Performs clerical duties related to admissions, discharges, charting and documentation; manages patient mail.
• Maintains patient rooms and sheets, conducts routine cleaning tasks.
