Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support nursing staff in delivering patient-centered care on the 5N Med/Tele unit. The role involves helping patients with daily living activities, collecting specimens, performing procedures, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

The position requires completing a medical assistant/patient care assistant program and having basic skills in venipuncture and EKG.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (graduate or equivalent).
• Certificate of completion of a medical assistant/patient care assistant program/equivalent with skills in venipuncture and EKG.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively with other members of the Specialty Service.

Responsibilities

• Assists patient with activities of daily living and other RN-supported care.
• Performs and records vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature).
• Assists with ambulatory care, transportation, and patient mobility as needed.
• Maintains a safe, clean environment and supports isolation procedures as directed by a nurse.
• Updates documentation systems and communicates patient needs to the care team.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and supports department goals.
