Job summary

The Hospital Authority of Miller County in Georgia is seeking an entry-level Patient Access Services Representative I to learn registration and customer service, handling outpatient and inpatient registration, cashiering, and insurance verification under supervision.

This full-time role supports patient flow, communicates with service areas, and delivers courteous, accurate financial counseling and data collection aligned with HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Previous medical office experience preferred.
• Previous experience with health insurance and patient billing required.
• Completion of medical terminology course required.
• Complete a 30-day and 60 Day Competency Check List to become Certified as an Advanced beginner.

Responsibilities

• Obtain necessary demographic and financial data through patient interviews and the registration system to complete pre-registration.
• Assure all check-in procedures are completed and monitor patient wait times, communication of changes as needed.
• Communicate financial obligations to patients and collect fees at time of service.
• Accurately perform medical record maintenance and releases; cash posting following department guidelines.
• Abide by HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices and patient confidentiality; maintain confidentiality.
• Notify patient or guarantor of anticipated financial responsibility and collect accordingly.
• Complete necessary regulatory forms and schedule follow-up appointments when needed.
• Documents financial arrangements and assists with front desk operations as required.
• Communicate with physician offices and other departments; assist supervisor with staff development.
