Job summary

Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is seeking an OR Technician to join the Operating Room team. This role supports surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers by preparing rooms, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting during a variety of procedures.

You will help ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate perioperative care while upholding high standards of patient safety. The position requires an accredited OR Technician training program completion and current AST and BLS certifications,

Qualifications

• HS diploma and OR technician training program completed.
• AST certification and BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Preparing operating rooms for procedures with sterile instruments and supplies.
• Assisting surgeons, RNs and scrub staff during procedures.
• Maintaining sterile technique and infection prevention throughout procedures.
• Handling, organizing, and passing surgical instruments and equipment.
• Supporting patient care before, during and after surgery to ensure safety and comfort.
• Assisting with instrument cleaning and OR equipment between procedures.
• Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia, nurses and perioperative staff for coordinated care.
• Engaging in quality improvement and ongoing professional development.
