Job summary

ABB Optical Group in Hawthorne, NY is seeking a Manufacturing-Optical Lab Technician to join our evening shift (Mon-Fri, 3pm-12am). The role focuses on precise handling of optical lenses, including measuring, tinting, mounting, and AR coating workflows to support production goals.

Responsibilities include processing frames and lenses, inputting data, and ensuring quality through inspections. Candidates should have a high school diploma and some optical manufacturing exposure, with training

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required for full-time employment.
• Entry-level: no specific prior work experience required; training provided.
• Proficient: minimum six (6) months of optical manufacturing experience in a similar role before skills assessment.
• Ability to follow procedures and contribute as an individual and team member.

Responsibilities

• Use tracing machine to measure frame, print and match paperwork to trays, follow job tickets.
• Invoice and package finished jobs; scan and bin for shipping.
• Sort and receive frames, place in appropriate trays for system entry.
• Secure lens/blanks in holding tools; operate equipment and maintain tools.
• Mount and align finished lens in frames; edge lens for insertion.
• Tint lenses to specified color; adjust tint axis as needed.
• Unload, mark, inspect and sort lenses; operate AR coating machines.
• Inspect lens surfaces and perform cosmetic inspections.
• Work daily to meet production targets set by management.
• Follow SOPs and maintain clean, organized work area.
• Report defects and inefficiencies; participate in team meetings.
