Job summary

ABB Optical Group in Auburn Hills, MI, is seeking a Manufacturing Optical Lab Technician for Mon-Fri 11am - 8:45pm. The role focuses on timely and accurate processing of products in the lab, with duties spanning frame measurement, lens mounting, tinting, coating, and final inspection.

Responsibilities include handling glass and lens equipment, ensuring correct paperwork, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent experience is required for full-time employment.
• Entry-level: No specific prior work experience required; training provided to enable employees to perform the minimum essential functions identified by their lab/department.
• Proficient: Minimum six (6) months of optical manufacturing experience in same or similar position prior to skills assessment to determine ability to perform all applicable essential functions identified by their respective lab/department.
• Ability to follow procedure and contribute as an individual and a team member.

Responsibilities

• Use a tracing machine to measure frame; print and match paperwork to trays and locate lenses as per job ticket.
• Invoice and package finished jobs; scan and bin jobs into proper customer box to be shipped.
• Sort and receive frames into system; place frames in appropriate colored trays.
• Secure lenses in holding tools; operate finishing equipment and clear machine errors.
• Mount, align and edge lenses; Tint and inspect as required.
• Unload and inspect lenses; perform cosmetic inspection and handle AR coatings.
• Meet production targets; follow SOPs and participate in team meetings.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety guidelines.
