Job summary

ABB Optical Group is hiring for a Manufacturing-Optical Lab Technician on Sun–Thu, 9pm–6am, in Hawthorne, NY. The role focuses on precise lens processing, frame tracing, and ensuring quality through inspection and finishing steps.

You will measure, assemble, tint, and verify lenses, following SOPs and safety guidelines while meeting production targets. Training is provided, with potential overtime and eligibility for a bonus plan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required for full-time employment.
• Entry-level: No specific prior work experience is required; training provided to enable employees to perform the minimum essential functions.
• Proficient: Minimum six (6) months of optical manufacturing experience in same or similar position prior to skills assessment to determine ability to perform all applicable essential functions identified by their respective lab/department.

Responsibilities

• Use a tracing machine to measure frame; print and match paperwork to trays; read job ticket to locate lens and pull from bin; place in tray for scanning and de-boxing.
• Invoice and package finished jobs; scan and bin jobs into the proper customer box for shipment.
• Sort and receive frames into the system; place frames in the appropriate colored trays.
• Secure optical lens/blanks in holding tools for processing; operate equipment and clear machine errors; maintain tools for production equipment.
• Mount and align finished lenses in frames using precision hand tools; edge lenses for insertion into frames.
• Tint lenses to specified color; adjust tint axis and colors as needed.
• Unload lenses into lens trays; mark and inspect lenses; perform cosmetic inspection.
• Inspect lens blanks for surface flaws; examine prescriptions and work orders; wash and clean lenses; verify quality.

Education
