Primary Purpose

Manage retail operations for the assigned department, impacting store associates, merchandise quality, presentation, and customer service. Build relationships, promote a strong culture aligned with Hannaford Strategy, and ensure store conditions meet high standards for appearance, security, safety, and food safety. Accountable for proper control of company assets.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Foster a positive, inclusive environment to retain associates and customers.
  2. Ensure all quality standards are met.
  3. Manage department operations according to established practices.
  4. Maintain department appearance and presentation.
  5. Hire, train, and develop associates to meet department needs.
  6. Achieve departmental financial objectives.
  7. Supervise performance of department associates.
  8. Provide outstanding customer service.
  9. Delegate, assign, and follow-up to ensure efficient department performance.
  10. Maintain accurate records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory.
  11. Meet physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.
  12. Recognize accomplishments and provide constructive feedback.
  13. Treat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect.
  14. Ensure associates are properly trained.
  15. Follow all company policies and procedures.
  16. Develop product knowledge in the department.
  17. Use RF units as needed.
  18. Organize product loads and assist in inventory control.
  19. Conduct performance appraisals.
  20. Maintain effective work schedules.
  21. Utilize company tools and systems.
  22. Follow operational and merchandising standards to maximize profitability.
  23. Maintain communication within the department and organization.
  24. Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and food safety standards.
  25. Understand and address shrink issues.
  26. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include department manager experience or equivalent, a college degree or equivalent preferred, and certification as a Food Safety Manager or ability to attain it within 90 days.

Physical Requirements
  • Use of computers and communication systems.
  • Lift up to 20 lbs. regularly, up to 60 lbs. occasionally. Push/pull up to 40 lbs. regularly.
  • Meet activity standards.

Salary range: $18.95 - $27.25/hr.
