Job summary

Purdue University is seeking a Black Cultural Center Night Manager-Student Service to support evening operations and student engagement. The role focuses on customer service, building a welcoming environment, and supervising student staff in the Black Cultural Center.

The position requires scheduling 10 hours per week during the current semester, with evenings/weekends possible, and a strong emphasis on reliability, communication, and inclusion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of six semesters of college coursework completed.
• Active enrollment at Purdue University, Purdue Global.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail.
• Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills.
• Customer service oriented.

Responsibilities

• Supervise evening student staff and ensure smooth operations Monday-Thursday from 5:00-10:00 PM and Friday from 5:00-8:00 PM.
• Conduct regular building walkthroughs to monitor safety, usage, and cleanliness of all public spaces.
• Ensure rooms, equipment, and common areas are properly secured, cleaned up, and reset at the end of each shift.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for evening events, room reservations, and visitor assistance.
• Address conflicts, incidents, or facility concerns and complete required documentation per BCC procedures.
• Enforce building policies while maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment.
• Communicate important updates, issues, or follow-up needs to daytime professional staff.
• Oversee building closing procedures: locking doors, shutting down equipment, and confirming all occupants have exited.
• Help train, guide, and support evening staff during operating hours.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with campus safety or appropriate personnel as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information
• Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the semester)
• Actively participate in and attend BCC sponsored programs and events
• Other duties as assigned
