Job summary

Duties include patient registration, appointment scheduling, message taking, and discharge processing, with occasional supply delivery and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and check them into the computer system.
• Verify patient demographic and financial information to ensure a billable account.
• Notify nursing personnel or provider of patient arrival.
• Orient patient and/or family to unit and hospital procedures.
• Pull and file patient charts and maintain records.
• Schedule appointments and obtain prior medical records as needed.
• Answer telephones and take accurate messages.
• Assist in discharge and referral processing, including insurance interactions.
• Enter lab and radiology procedure requests and edit charges as needed.
• Provide patient escort and assist in collection of co-pays.
• Ensure encounter tickets are completed and charges submitted timely.
