Job summary

The Department of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Nursing Station Clerk 1, NS74 Acute Rehab (Evenings). You will perform a range of inpatient clerical tasks, greet patients, manage registrations, and support chart preparation and daily logs.

Reporting to the Nursing Department, you will coordinate appointments, handle phone communications, and assist with discharge processes and pharmacy requisitions in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Performs routine inpatient clerical duties and data entry.
• Greet visitors, answer phones, and direct to appropriate units.
• Prepare and maintain patient charts, logs, and daily records.
• Process medication tickets and pharmacy requisitions.
• Assist in coordinating patient registrations and appointments.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and register them in the computer system.
• Verify patient demographics and financial information for billing.
• Schedule appointments and obtain prior medical records as needed.
• Answer phones and relay messages to appropriate staff.
• Process discharge referrals and enter charges and codes.
• Maintain supplies and prepare routine reports.
