Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for the Children's Hospital to deliver advanced respiratory care across general and intensive settings, including home care environments.

The role requires an Associate degree or CoARC-approved program, VA licensure, and RRT credential. Candidates should be prepared for evening/night shifts and participate in ongoing competency validation, with potential for ACLS/NRP/PALS within one year.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and/or certification required from a CoARC approved school of respiratory care education.
• Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the VA State Board of Medicine.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Must complete orientation and competency validation; obtain BLS within 3 months; ACLS/NRP/PALS within 1 year if required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum outcomes across ages and service areas.
• Collaborate with health care team and family to develop age-specific care plans.
• Administer and document treatments and medications for all ages.
• Provide patient/family education and participate in performance improvement activities.
• Orient new employees and participate in staff development and education.
