Job summary

Rochester General Hospital is seeking a Nursing Shift Supervisor to lead off-shift nursing teams, provide clinical guidance, and oversee patient flow and safety. You will mentor staff, uphold policies, and collaborate with care teams during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

The role requires an Associate's Degree in Nursing, NYS RN license, and BLS certification. Bachelor’s degree preferred; good communication and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
• New York State RN license required.
• BLS required for all new candidates prior to hire.
• BLS required for all internal team members by 12/31/2014.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides on-site leadership and oversight during off-shifts in hospital or long-term care settings, managing patient care delivery, staffing, and emergent situations in the absence of onsite management.
• Supports staff through clinical problem-solving, mentoring, coaching, and reinforcing hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• R rounds on patients and actively facilitates patient flow and decision-making with the care team.
• Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive care and advocates for patient rights.
• Ensures documentation and communication of shift occurrences, safety concerns, and staffing adjustments; liaises across departments and with leadership.
• Maintains required education, participates in leadership development, ensures fiscal responsibility, and engages in community and professional activities.
