Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a generalist medical laboratory scientist to support chemistry, hematology, and coagulation testing during evening and night shifts. You will perform routine and special tests, review results, and help maintain quality in a high-acuity hospital setting, contributing to timely patient care across inpatient, emergency, and critical care services.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory or related field with NAACLS/ASCP internship;

Qualifications

• Two pathways: Bachelor's in Clinical Laboratory with a 12-month NAACLS/ASCP internship.
• MT with Bachelor's in Clinical Laboratory or related field and 12-month internship.
• ASCP or AMT certification must be obtained within 15 months from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform, check accuracy and report results of routine and complex laboratory procedures.
• Assist supervisor and/or team lead with evaluating new instruments and quality control information, troubleshooting, and equipment maintenance.
• Assist team lead with apheresis procedures, bone marrows, coordinating educational sessions and quality control activities.
