Job summary

Ashtabula Regional Medical Center in Ohio is seeking a part-time Mental Health Technician for the Behavioral Medicine Unit. The role reports to the RN and requires availability for 3–11 p.m. shifts, providing direct patient care to psychiatric patients and facilitating groups as assigned.

Responsibilities include monitoring mental status, assisting with ADLs, supervising meals, obtaining vital signs, and maintaining chart documentation while protecting patient information in a fast-paced milieu.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, or mental health field.
• One or more years of mental health experience in other fields of study.
• Group facilitation skills; knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care of psychiatric patients under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Facilitates groups as assigned.
• Monitors and assesses current mental status and psychiatric symptoms and intervenes as needed.
• Assists in ADL’s, supervises meals and passes trays.
• Obtains vital signs.
• Assists other staff in milieu management.
• Maintains documentation on patient charts.
• Involves handling Protected Health Information.
