Job summary

Ashtabula Regional Medical Center is seeking a Mental Health Tech for the Behavioral Medicine Unit. This part-time position covers the 2nd shift (3-11p) and involves direct patient care of psychiatric patients under RN supervision, group facilitation, and milieu management within an inpatient setting.

The role requires an associate or bachelor’s in a mental health field, group facilitation skills, BLS certification, and CPI training within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Behavioral Medicine experience.
• Two years’ experience in an inpatient setting is preferred.
• BLS certified; CPI within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care of psychiatric patients under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Facilitates groups as assigned.
• Monitors mental status and psychiatric symptoms and intervenes as appropriate.
• Assists in activities of daily living, supervises meals and passes trays.
• Obtains vital signs and maintains patient charts.
• Supports milieu management and protects patient privacy (HIPAA).
