Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is seeking a Medication History Pharmacy Technician for evening shifts. Provides technical support to obtain and verify initial patient medication histories and records them in our care areas.

Responsibilities include interviewing patients and families about current regimens, including prescriptions, OTCs, vitamins, and supplements, while adhering to Iowa law and state requirements. Join a large, long-standing hospital system committed to quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required when nationally certified through NHA.
• PCTB nationally certified technicians do NOT require HS diploma or GED.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification; Minimum of 2000 hours of pharmacy technician experience; Registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, verify for accuracy, and record initial medication histories from patients or caregivers.
• Conduct patient/family interviews to document current medication regimens including prescriptions, OTCs, vitamins and herbs.
• Perform other functions of a pharmacy technician registered in Iowa as needed.
