Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is seeking a Medication History Pharmacy Technician for evening shifts. Provides technical support to obtain and verify initial patient medication histories and records them in our care areas.

Responsibilities include interviewing patients and families about current regimens, including prescriptions, OTCs, vitamins, and supplements, while adhering to Iowa law and state requirements. Join a large, long-standing hospital system committed to quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required when nationally certified through NHA.
• PCTB nationally certified technicians do NOT require HS diploma or GED.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification; Minimum of 2000 hours of pharmacy technician experience; Registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire.

As a Medication History Pharmacy Technician at MercyOne, you will provide technical support in obtaining, verifying for accuracy, and recording initial medication histories from patients &/or their designated family/caregivers upon presentation to Mercy patient care areas. This includes conducting patient &/or family interviews focused on obtaining current medication regimens including prescription and over-the-counter (non-prescription) medications, as well as vitamin and herbal supplements. Will also perform other functions of a pharmacy technician registered in the State of Iowa and within the scope of Iowa law as needed.

Schedule

• 40 hours a week
• 10:30 am - 7:00 pm
• Every 3rd weekend

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required when nationally certified through NHA
• PCTB nationally certified technicians do NOT require HS diploma or GED
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within 3 months of hire
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification; Minimum of 2000 hours of pharmacy technician experience required; and Registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire

OR

• Registered Pharmacist-Intern with the State of Iowa at the time of hire
