Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital is hiring a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist/Lab Tech for evening shifts in the Pathology-Diagnostics Institute. Job code C18001; schedule 1:00pm-11:30pm or 3:00pm-11:30pm with every third weekend; role involves performing and interpreting tests at all complexity levels.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant lab science and CLIA high-complexity qualification; preferred certs like MT/MLT/MLS, PCR knowledge, and pipetting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• Meets the CLIA qualifications for high complexity testing personnel grandfathering clause.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain regulatory knowledge and awareness as it pertains to specific job duties.
• Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities and maintenance.
• Perform proficiency testing per CLIA requirements and maintain documentation.
• Participate in continuing education and annual competency assessment.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and take corrective action or escalate as needed.
