Job summary

Cleveland Clinic is seeking an Laboratory Technician for the Main Campus to support evening operations (3:00pm–11:30pm). You will review consultations, evaluate paperwork, and coordinate with Pathologists and lab staff to direct daily lab workflow.

This role offers exposure to leading-edge technology and a dynamic healthcare environment. You will perform specimen accessioning, LIS tasks, advanced testing, and client liaison duties, while ensuring safety, documentation, and compliance with SOPs.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree (preferably in Science) and two years of lab processing experience
• OR four years of Lab Technician or comparable processing experience
• OR active enrollment in the Cleveland Clinic MLS Program

Responsibilities

• Receive and accession specimens into the LIS.
• Conduct higher level accessioning in the LIS including esoteric testing.
• Conduct advanced tracking investigations.
• Serve as a subspecialty client liaison.
• Be responsible for advanced problem solving/issue resolution (pending log/SERS/block QA).
• Perform tasks involved with frozen section processing (frozen section slide creation).
• Create cell block slides, perform clinical histology tissue embedding and assist in Cytology adequacy assessments.
• Prepare specimens for analysis.
• Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).
• Run and resolve LIS logs.
• Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens.
• Perform logistic activities within and outside of lab.
• Use tracking software/devices.
• Comply with safety, SOP & regulations.
• Maintain appropriate documentation.
