Job summary

Bell Hospital is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist for the Core Lab during evening hours in a full-time capacity. The role focuses on delivering accurate laboratory results and ensuring timely testing for patients.

The MLS will analyze specimens, calibrate and maintain instruments, perform phlebotomy as needed, and participate in QA/QI activities while mentoring staff and students. Compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Biological, Physical, Chemical or Clinical Laboratory Science / Medical Technology from an accredited institution.
• High School graduate.
• MLS certification or eligibility within 180 days (ASCP/AMT or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Analyzes patient, control and proficiency testing specimens and records results in a timely manner.
• Calibrates, maintains, operates and troubleshoots instrumentation issues and completes appropriate documentation.
• Performs phlebotomy and sample collection as applicable.
• Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
• Instructs, orients and mentors students, employees, residents, patients and other health care providers as applicable.
• Maintains an adequate inventory of all supplies and prepares reagents, controls and specimens for analysis.
• Reviews and correlates results of laboratory tests to patient data and identifies abnormal or critical values.
