Job summary

CMC is hiring a maintenance technician at the Fontana Recycling Plant. You will perform routine upkeep, diagnose and repair hydraulic/electrical systems, and ensure safe operation of heavy equipment. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, reading technical docs, and working overtime as needed.

Prospective candidates should have 1–3 years in industrial maintenance, welding skills (MIG/stick), and a strong team orientation. Competitive pay and benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in extreme temps, chemicals, dust, fumes, loud noises.
• Valid driver’s license with safe driving record.
• Heavy equipment maintenance experience with hydraulics.
• Team player with strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Overtime availability outside of normal shift.
• Physical ability to pull, reach, bend, climb and kneel.
• Experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, wiring, and heavy equipment.
• Proficient in reading and understanding technical docs, diagrams, and manuals.
• Welding, cutting, and fabrication skills; MIG and stick welding.
• Ability to communicate with business leaders and employees.
• Explain production issues clearly and propose solutions.
• Interact well with coworkers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs and routine tasks safely and efficiently.
• Diagnose malfunctions and repair equipment.
• Keep equipment operating by following service instructions and performing maintenance.
• Maintain records of work performed and materials used.
• Perform welding, grinding or basic machining to adjust or repair.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Repair hydraulics and electrical equipment as assigned.
• Prepare accurate service and repair records.
• Work safely in extreme conditions and around moving machinery.
• Follow safety policies and participate in CMC Safety Programs.
• Modify, repair and install machinery observing safety procedures.
• Handle additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.
