Job summary

Commercial Metals is seeking a maintenance technician at the Fontana Recycling Plant. The role supports a 1:00 PM–10:30 PM shift, with Saturdays 6 AM–12 PM and potential overtime. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing equipment, preventative maintenance, and keeping detailed service records.

You will work with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding and fabrication, and read technical manuals. The company offers Day 1 benefits, PTO, 401(k) match, and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and work in extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, loud noise, uneven surfaces, elevated areas and confined spaces.
• Valid driver’s license with a safety-conscious driving record.
• Heavy equipment maintenance experience with emphasis on fluid hydraulics.
• Able to work as a team in a fast-paced environment with strong work ethic and attention to detail to find root causes of equipment failures.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs and routine tasks safely and efficiently.
• Diagnose malfunctions on equipment and perform repairs.
• Keep equipment operating by following service instructions and performing preventative maintenance.
• Maintain records of work performed, details of repairs, and material usage.
• Perform basic welding and fabrication to adjust or repair machinery.
• Inspect equipment and troubleshoot problems accurately and efficiently.
• Work around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts.
• Participate in CMC safety programs and uphold safety culture.
• Modify, repair and install machinery while observing safety policies.
