Job summary

Towson University’s Academic Affairs Division is seeking a part-time Public Access Services/Evening Student Employee to support the Ask Us service desk and reference desk during evening and weekend hours. The role includes on-site supervision of student workers, circulation tasks, and basic reference assistance.

Responsibilities include facilitating library services, assisting patrons, and contributing to service improvement initiatives while supporting student success initiatives on campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• One year of experience directly related to the primary duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Directly supports the Ask Us service desk during evening and weekend hours, providing quality customer service.
• Provides point-of-need reference support for basic library questions, including search strategies, resource identification, and use of databases and equipment.
• Makes referrals to subject specialist librarians and campus services when needed.
• Supports virtual chat reference services during assigned hours.
• Assists patrons with circulation questions and records; refers complex issues to Circulation Manager.
• Contributes to assessment of public service desk operations and data-driven service improvements.
• Supports library's student success efforts.
