Job summary

California State University Long Beach is seeking a Lead Custodian for a part-time, 0.50 FTE position. The role involves leading a custodial team, coordinating assignments, and ensuring safe, clean facilities on campus.

The position is open to CSULB employees only and reports to the Manager of Custodial Services. Work schedule includes evening shifts, with a focus on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety across campus facilities.

Qualifications

• Past experience supervising a small staff.
• Experience leading, directing and instructing custodial personnel.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning methods.
• Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Experience operating power cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Directs work to be performed and inspects custodial tasks; trains staff in proper methods and procedures.
• Instructs custodians in use of custodial equipment and maintains records.
• Coordinates and covers assignments due to absenteeism; responds to cleaning emergencies.
• Makes reports and assists with work orders and safety checks (e.g., fire extinguishers).
• Orders, stores and delivers supplies and equipment to custodial closets.
• May perform supervisor duties in absence of the Supervising Custodian.
