Job summary

California State University Long Beach is seeking a Custodian in the FM Custodial department. Under the supervision of the Manager of Custodial Services, you will perform custodial, janitorial, and maintenance duties in assigned areas and related work as needed.

The position is 1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week, temporary for 1 year with no permanent status. CSU Long Beach offers a competitive starting salary with comprehensive benefits for eligible employees.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard cleaning techniques and care of various surfaces.
• Ability to operate power cleaning equipment safely.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand instructions for the position.
• Strong organizational skills to manage work assignments and custodial storage areas.
• Experience in university or large institutional environments preferred.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains neat and clean facilities for faculty, staff, and visitors.
• Removes trash/recycle paper, cardboard and various materials.
• Maintains facility safety procedures and security measures.
• Positive interaction and communication of custodial activities.
• Operates vacuums, buffers, scrubbers, and related equipment for floors and exterior areas.
