Job summary

Kelly Services is seeking a detail-oriented Layup Technician for a cutting-edge composite materials laboratory in California. This full-time, temp-to-hire role offers a Monday–Friday 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM schedule with pay up to $26.00 per hour (DOE).

You will perform hand layup, operate ply cutting equipment and autoclaves, and help ensure high-quality, accurate results. Responsibilities include measuring and cutting prepregs and substrates, handling carbon fiber, fiberglass, and aramid materials,

Qualifications

• Experience with composite materials and fabrication processes.
• Knowledge of carbon fiber, fiberglass, aramid, prepregs, adhesives.
• Experience with composite panel fabrication, vacuum bagging, and autoclave curing.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Organizational and time management skills; handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Accurately measure and cut raw materials such as prepregs, adhesives, and substrates.
• Perform hand layup of composite materials including carbon fiber and fiberglass.
• Prepare metal and composite substrates through etching, anodizing, and priming.
• Assist with vacuum bagging and autoclave curing operations.
• Maintain detailed production and project records.
• Collaborate with engineers and lab staff to meet specifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Support Lean initiatives and FOD reduction activities.
• Assist team to support lab operations and continuous improvement.
