Job summary

ADCS Clinics LLC in Birmingham, AL seeks a Laboratory Assistant to provide general assistance to technologists and pathologists, ensuring smooth workflow in the Laboratory department. The role includes coordinating tasks, handling processors and staining equipment, and maintaining slides and requisitions to match case numbers.

Ideal candidates have at least a high school diploma; a bachelor’s in chemical or biological science is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s in chemical/biological science preferred.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities are essential.
• Professional interaction with colleagues and reliable attendance expected.

Responsibilities

• Change, load, rotate, clean and maintain processors.
• Change, load, rotate, clean and maintain staining instrumentation.
• Change, load and maintain coverslipper.
• Compare slides to blocks to ensure case numbers are correct and tissue matches.
• Compare slides to requisition forms to ensure case numbers are correct and tissue matches.
• Restock supplies as needed.
• Dispose of hazardous waste according to procedure.
• Must adhere to all department protocols and procedures.
• Must be reliable, dependable and have an excellent attendance history.
• Must be a team player.
• Other duties as assigned.
