Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant for our Birmingham, AL location. The shift runs Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00am to 8:30am with rotating weekends. You will receive and sort clinical lab specimens, prepare them for testing, and handle data entry and record-keeping.

The role requires basic computer skills, attention to detail, and a strength in working both independently and as part of a team. The position emphasizes safety, quality, and adherence to SOPs in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 months or more of specimen processing experience.
• 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
• Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
