Job summary

Pathgroup- is seeking a Lab Assistant I to support the histology lab operations on-site in Birmingham, AL. The role involves coordinating surgical case paperwork, slide delivery to pathologists, managing SSR orders, loading slides on stainers, and retrieving slides/blocks from files.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year in a health care environment. The position requires adherence to safety procedures and Corporate Privacy & Security policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of one year of previous health care environment job-related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgical case paperwork and slides for delivery to pathologists.
• Manage SSR orders.
• Load and remove slides from stainers.
• Retrieve needed slides and blocks from files.
• Package slides and blocks for return to outside facilities.
• File blocks and slides.
• Perform lab cleaning and equipment maintenance.
• Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
• Protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of PHI and other sensitive company data.
• Abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and Privacy & Security policies.
