Job summary

YMCA of Kernersville is seeking a Kids Zone Team Leader to supervise evening shifts and alternating Saturdays, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for children ages 6 weeks through 11 years. You will lead Kids Zone staff, coordinate age-appropriate activities, monitor supplies, and support daily program operations while upholding YMCA policies and standards.

This role requires strong communication, dependable teamwork, and the ability to engage children across developmental levels; ASHI CPR

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with children, youth programs, childcare, recreation, or related field preferred.
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site leader during assigned Kids Zone shifts.
• Create, coordinate, and help implement age-appropriate activities for children.
• Set up and prepare activities, materials, and program spaces.
• Monitor supplies and communicate purchasing or restocking needs.
• Assist with onboarding, training, and supporting new Kids Zone employees.
• Provide ongoing coaching, direction, and feedback to Kids Zone team members.
• Help ensure staff follow YMCA policies, procedures, and established Kids Zone expectations.
• Maintain a positive, professional, and supportive team environment.
• Communicate concerns involving children, parents, staff, safety, or program operations to appropriate leadership.
