YMCA of Northwest North Carolina is seeking a Part-Time Kids Zone Representative to supervise activities for children 6 weeks to 11 years old at the Yadkin Family YMCA in Yadkinville, NC. The role requires a friendly, safety-minded individual who can engage children in play and learning while upholding the YMCA Christian mission.

Responsibilities include leading age-appropriate activities, maintaining health and safety standards, and providing excellent customer service to families.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 16; HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience with children or in related field preferred.
  • Ability to work well with children of various ages and abilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain a flexible schedule.

Position Type: Part Time

Salary Range: $10.00 - $10.00 Hourly

Job Shift: Variable

Under the direction of the Kids Zone Sr. Director and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, a Y Kids Zone Rep is responsible for supervising and leading activities to engage children in play and learning, while ensuring standards of health and safety are met.

Responsibilities
  • Lead educational, age-appropriate and Christian-valued activities for children ages 6 weeks-11 years
  • Maintain health, safety and cleanliness standards of Kids Zone
  • Provide superior customer service to members and their children
  • Implement assigned programming
  • Maintain accurate records relating to attendance
  • Provide care and supervision of children in Kids Zone with emphasis on overall safety and wellness
  • Communicate appropriately with other staff members in a positive manner
  • Attend staff meetings and complete all required trainings
  • Assist with other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Obtain ASHI (CPR) certification within 30 days of employment (training is provided)
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight
  • Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time
  • Requires bending, pulling, crouching, leaning, kneeling, and walking, pushing, climbing, and jumping
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in such a way as to be easily understood by children, staff and parents
  • Visual and auditory ability to supervise and respond to critical situations with children
Performance may be measured by:
  • The safety of all children in the assigned area
  • The feedback from participants, parents, and Y leadership
  • The pleasant environment and smooth operation of the Kids Zone program
