Job summary

Qualifications

• Illinois pharmacy technician license required.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year pharmacy experience.
• ASHP approved pharmacy technician vocational course or student in college of pharmacy.
• Ability to work as a team player to achieve optimal patient care.
• Good communication skills with patients and staff.
• Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and medications.
• Completed core technician competencies and yearly recertifications.
• Attention to detail and strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Transport medications and supplies to nursing units and Omnicell machines.
• Replace CPR cart medications and transfer patient-specific meds during unit transfers.
• Rotate through all pharmacy work areas and stock shelves and IV room areas.
• Triages phone communications and gather quality assurance data.
• Prepare medications for dispensing under pharmacist supervision, including unit dose syringes and IV admixtures.
• Prepare inventories and orders, and assist with STAT order handling.
• Assist in training new pharmacists and technicians.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
