Job summary

MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, WA is seeking a Security Officer to protect people and property and enforce safety policies. The role reports to Security Services and involves monitoring access, deterring threats, and handling aggressive behavior with de-escalation techniques.

Evening shift, 8-hour schedule. Required IAHSS basic certification or ability to obtain within 12 months, plus at least 6 months of security experience, preferably in healthcare.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Current Washington or Idaho state driver's license (driving not required for this position).
• IAHSS basic certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire date.
• Minimum six months of experience in police, military, or security, preferably in a health care setting.
• Proof of a safe driving record (where applicable).
• BLS certification or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• First Aid training within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct general security in the protection of people and property and enforcement of applicable policies and regulations.
• Deter criminal activity and misconduct using tactical techniques.
• Utilize Management of Aggressive Behavior skills both verbally and physically as required.
• Apply Awareness, Vigilance, Avoidance, Defense, and Escape to protect and serve the facility campus.
• Utilize weapons detection devices to monitor patients/visitors and ensure removal of contraband.
• Apply appropriate techniques with assistive devices when engaging with combative individuals.
• Operate/leverage security equipment and tools effectively.
