Job summary

Saint Francis Ministries, Inc. in Picayune, MS is seeking a Full Time Home Trainer for the 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.).

You will provide supervision, coaching and training to developmentally disabled individuals in their home and work environments, ensuring safety, daily living skills, and social engagement. Qualifications

• First Aid/CPR.
• Prefer two years’ experience in related work areas.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must pass a drug screen, MVR, MS State Background Check and Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance Check; pass a physical examination & TB Skin Test
• Lifting Requirements of 50 lbs.
• Valid Mississippi Driver’s License and Clear Driving Record.

Responsibilities

• Maintains detailed daily IDD service notes and other documentation required by MS Department of Mental Health.
• Performs all required work as assigned in working with residents.
• Provides supervision, coaching, and assistance to clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
• Monitors and ensures clients’ homes and living environments are safe.
• Supports and coaches clients in maintaining food cleanliness and safety and promotes nutritious meals.
• Helps clients with laundry and washing, drying, folding, and putting clothes away.
• Accompanies and transports clients to medical appointments and community activities.
• Teaches life skills such as budgeting, cooking, etiquette, and social interactions.
• Implements person-centered support plans and de-escalates challenging behaviors.
• Assists clients in medication usage and monitors vitals.
• Reports undesirable behavior to supervisors.
• May provide cross coverage to other IDD service areas.
• Follows training guidelines of regulatory agencies and documents home training.
• Reports unusual incidents through Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.
• Attends regular training and staff meetings.
• The third shift handles cleaning of communal areas.
• Follows Saint Francis Ministries policies and SOPs and respect for laws.
