FedEx Freight is seeking a dock/freight handler in Michigan to move freight between the dock and trailers and assist with loading and unloading. The role involves operating equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, verifying paperwork, and securing cargo for transport.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, and to lift heavy dock plates.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Perform freight handling using equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
