Job summary

FedEx Freight seeks a dock/unloader to move freight between trailers and dock areas. You will operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck, verify freight documentation, and secure cargo inside trailers. You may assist customers and perform hostling duties as needed.

Qualifications include at least 18 years old, a high school diploma or equivalent, and warehousing or forklift experience preferred. Shift times vary with operational needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to approximately 100 pounds and open trailer doors requiring up to 75 pounds lift.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck as needed.
• Verify documentation matches freight description.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation.
