Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers, using forklift, pallet jack and hand truck. You will verify freight documents, secure items for transit, and assist customers with freight-related needs.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 18+, and preferred warehousing experience. The role may involve hostling duties, variable hours, and compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing/freight handling experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, lift dock plates ~100 lbs, and open trailer doors requiring ~75 lbs of lift force, up to several times per day or more.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck as needed.
• Verify freight documentation matches description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with all laws/regulations and company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
