Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Dockworker to move freight between docks and trailers, using forklifts and hand trucks. You will verify documentation, secure loads, and assist customers with freight paperwork in a dynamic, fast-paced warehouse.

Ideal candidates have warehousing experience, can lift heavy loads, and are comfortable working in varying weather and shift hours. Starting pay is $21.78 per hour, with standard dock operations and safety protocols in place.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing or freight handling experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 pounds and open trailer doors up to 75 pounds, several times per day.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate motorized and manual equipment including forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify freight documents match description using current systems.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies; perform other duties as required.
