Job summary

FedEx Freight in the United States is seeking a dockworker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading. Starting pay is $22.26 per hour with a shift from 1700 to 2200.

Responsibilities include operating equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck), verifying documents, securing cargo, repairing damaged freight, and assisting customers with freight paperwork. Equal opportunity employer; benefits listed below.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing or freight handling experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Lift/carry varying weights including dock plates up to ~100 pounds, several times per day.
• Bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using appropriate equipment: forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Verify freight documents match description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
