Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, and move freight within a dock/warehouse setting. The role involves scanning, documentation, and coordinating with drivers to ensure accurate shipments.

This onsite shift runs Monday through Friday from 5pm to 11pm, with certification required prior to operating equipment and a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Certification/Licensure: Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain) required.
• Experience: 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Communication: English proficiency to understand safety and operational instructions.
• Arithmetic: Ability to verify freight counts, weights, and labels.
• Technology: Willingness to learn basic computer systems and handheld scanners.
• Equipment: Operate pallets jacks, forklifts, reach trucks with training.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight using handheld devices and systems.
