Job summary

Samaritan Daytop Village, Inc. seeks a dedicated Maintenance Custodian in Blauvelt, NY to keep facilities clean, safe, and well-maintained for clients and staff. You will perform floor care, light repairs, and sanitization, while handling basic maintenance tasks and reporting issues to supervisors.

This full-time role offers a generous benefits package, a 35-hour workweek, and a schedule Tue–Sat, 3pm–11pm, with an hourly rate of $21.97–$23.31 and annualized pay around $40,000–$42,426.

Qualifications

• Six months or more of custodial or maintenance work in a professional facility.
• Experience with light maintenance and basic repairs using hand tools.
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation, and floor care.
• Familiarity with floor stripping and buffing machines.
• Ability to follow safety protocols for chemical handling (SDS).
• Willingness to perform outdoor upkeep and snow/ice removal.
• Ability to work independently and communicate with staff.
• Basic computer skills for reporting and updates.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean and orderly environment across all areas, including clinical spaces.
• Perform detailed floor care using stripping and buffing machines.
• Execute light maintenance and minor repairs (locks, bulbs, fixtures).
• Disinfect high-touch surfaces daily according to hygiene protocols.
• Manage waste removal from indoor and outdoor areas.
• Clear snow and ice from exterior entrances as needed.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools.
• Follow PPE guidelines and safe cleaning agents.
• Respond to maintenance emergencies promptly.
• Submit maintenance reports and track supplies.
